What is a Small Group? Small Groups consist of people who want to connect with others and grow spiritually. Usually meeting in a host's home on a regular schedule, they are formed based on common age, location, interests, stage of life, etc. They are gatherings of people who come together to study the Bible, serve in missions, pray for each other, and to gather socially for fellowship. Most importantly, groups learn to support, encourage and challenge each other as they take their faith journey together. ChristWalkers is a day of mission and outreach open to all youth. Meet in the Youth Loft at 1:00 pm. We will be back by 5:00. January 10th (second Saturday) is our next ChristWalkers event. Chapel Cross Dedication On Sunday February 15th, we will have our 2009 Cross Dedication Service beginning at 12:15 p.m. in the youth chapel. Parents, Friends-in-Faith or others may give a cross in honor of any youth between 6th and 12th grade (only one cross per youth, so check with the youth office before donating a cross). Please attach a note with the name of the donor and the honoree. These crosses will be mailed to the students when they are a freshman in college. Please keep that in mind when purchasing a cross. The Pure Sound Youth Choir of St. Luke's UMC is made up of 80+ singers from 7th through 12th grades. Members come from all over the city and beyond (Katy, Spring, Pearland) to participate in this exciting choir which leads in musical worship each week at our 8:30 a.m. Sunday service. Pure Sound presents an annual spring musical and tours bi-annually to places as far flung as England and Alaska. Nursery Childrens Sunday School Parenting Center Day School After School/Kids Kamp Music Sunday School for children ages 2 (as of September 1, 2008) through 5th grade is held every Sunday of the year except for Easter Sunday from 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Twos – 2nd Grade teachers use Live B.I.G. curriculum as their guide in preparing faith-based fun and developmentally appropriate activities. They focus on spiritual and relational development. 3rd – 5th Grade teachers use PowerXpress curriculum, which is a rotation model. The children gather by grade for 15 minutes for welcoming activities and introductions of the scripture. Then the children rotate through 6 rotations (one per week) as they learn and discuss the scripture while participating in various activities (cooking, art, science, computer, Bible discovery, and games) which enhance their multiple intelligences.
