Our Location:
Our address is 3471 Westheimer (at Edloe St.), Houston, Texas 77027. Click here to get directions.
Where to Park:
Parking is available on our campus. First-time visitors are invited to use specially designated parking areas close to the church (located in the back parking lot). Handicap parking is also available near the church along every major entrance. Handicap entrances are located at the front of our church (on the northeast and northwest corner entrances), along the east side of the church (near the Chapel), and in the back of the church (from the courtyard, the entrance is to the right).
Where do I go when I get there?
St. Luke’s is not so big that you will walk around without meeting someone. People meet and greet one another in the outside courtyard areas, hallways, and the Sanctuary. Be sure to stop by our Welcome Desk and the Connection Center, which are located in the Commons (between back parking lot and Sanctuary). The friendly volunteers at the Welcome Desk and Connection Center are glad to answer any questions you may have. You can also ask an Usher for information about our church, and they will also be happy to assist you in finding a seat for worship service if you like.
What are the Sunday Services like?
Sunday morning worship times are 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11a.m. for our Traditional Services (located in the Sanctuary), and 8:45 a.m. for our Contemporary Service called "Encounter" (located in Fellowship Hall). After the 11a.m. worship service, please join us for our weekly cookies-and-punch reception in the Hines Baker room (located next to the Commons area). Everyone is invited!
Our Traditional services include congregational readings, music (congregation and choir), prayers, children's sermon (at 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.), and sermons following in the Methodist tradition. Encounter (our Contemporary service) includes songs of praise, a children’s sermon, as well as occasional additions such as media clips, worshipful dance and drama.
Do you have a Nursery and Children’s Sunday School?
We have a nursery available during all worship services for infants through 2 year olds. Children ages 3 years – 5th grade attend children’s Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and/or Children’s Extended Care for the 8:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. services. Click here for more details.
Do you have activities for teenagers?
Yes! Visit our youth webpage for all the exciting activities in our Youth department (for youth 6th-12th grade).
Will I be singled out as a guest?
Relax, you are not asked to stand up to be recognized or speak, or even wear a visitor name badge. We would appreciate it if you could provide us your name and address on the registration pads in the pews. We just like to follow up with all our guests to say hello and to thank them for coming.
What does your church believe?
Some of Methodism's essentials include the belief that Jesus is the Son of God who died that we might be saved. We believe he rose from the dead and lives today with God our Creator. We believe Jesus is the only source of our salvation - rituals, good works or membership in a particular denomination does not save us. Click here to learn more.
May I participate in communion?
Holy Communion is celebrated weekly during our 8:30 a.m. service (located in the Sanctuary). It’s also celebrated weekly at 12:15 p.m. in our Chapel. United Methodists practice open communion; all present may receive the sacrament if they so desire.
What if I’m accustomed to a smaller church?
St. Luke’s is large enough to offer an array of dynamic programs and ministries, but small enough so that every member has a special place. The heart of St. Luke’s is in its family atmosphere. Getting involved in our various groups from Sunday School classes, Small Groups and Bible studies, as well as other programs and activities are a great way to get connected into St. Luke’s. For more info., please visit our Connection Center.
Want to know more about St. Luke’s United Methodist Church?
We offer Life Together dinner classes throughout the year to help you learn more about St. Luke’s Life Together dinner and class led by our pastor, Dr. Tom Pace, to meet staff members, develop new friendships, and learn about St. Luke’s mission, and meaning of the membership vows. Click here to learn more and register.
Will I be expected to give money?
The ministries of St. Luke’s UMC are supported not only by the voluntary financial contributions of its members but also by giving of their time, talents and services. There are many ways you can serve and support the church, but as a first time visitor it is not an expectation.
Who do I call?
